Regular exercise is key for maintaining good health and to reduce health risks. An inactive lifestyle raises your risk for developing serious health conditions, including metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and heart disease.
Adults lose 4-6 lbs. of muscle tissue per decade, which means a significant loss of body strength and lower metabolism.
Older adults who undergo a structured strength-training program have shown to regain lost muscle mass, increase their strength, metabolism, bone density and balance and improve their quality of life. However, if calorie intake isn't also reduced, fat weight will increase.

Early in my training career I worked with the Senior Olympics geared towards Older Adults 50 and over. I met and seen some of the very best role models and athletes in my life. Former NCAA basketball players, track and field athletes and even a 98 year old man that ran the 50 meter dash during the state Senior Olympic games that knew Jessie Owens!
As a Senior Fitness Specialist I have learned that age is just a number. I work with older adult who have COPD, arthitis, heart disease, Parkinsons, amputated limbs and many other kinds of health and orthopedic issues.
Every client has one thing in common. They want to enrich their life. They want to be active with their children and grandchildren. They want to elevate the quality of their life.
