Barriers to successful weight loss and lifestyle goals can come from all directions. I have seen this from clients over the years. It is sad but true that there are those who don't want to see others get ahead or make gain towards a given goal.
These potential obstacles can come from family members, friends or coworkers. I have even had clients who had these same obstacles from their spouse.
Along with these emotions they can also try and sabotage your goals while you are with them by tempting you with your favorite foods, asking if you are ok because you look sick and getting too skinny...Remember, misery loves company!
Usually the last thing you can expect to hear is...I am proud of you. You look great. Well done.
The bottom line is to not let others rock your boat. Tell them you are doing it for health reasons and a healthier lifestyle change. As you stick with it and continue to make progress and others see this. You can in turn be a positive role model by deflecting the negativity and hitting your goals.
